Jones Soda Co, a manufacturer of premium soda beverages and energy drinks, has decided to ditch high fructose corn syrup and start using pure cane sugar as a soda sweetener in their products, Seattlepi.com reported on Nov. 29, 2006
Researchers have found high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) may be a risk factor for diabetes and obesity although the industry has repeatedly claimed that increased incidence of obesity is not found only in countries where HFCS is widely used.
Susan Gins, a Seattle-based nutritionist, was cited by Seattlei.com as saying that the body has difficulty dealing with high levels of HFCS, increasing risk of diabetes and other epidemic disease caused by obesity.
