On Nov 18, Bret of Google Mobile team announced on his
blog that the search giant just launched an updated version of the Google
Mobile App that allows a user to do a Google web search using his voice.
"The Google Mobile App for iPhone and iPod touch
devices is a free application that gives you easy access to Google Mobile
products and lets you quickly search your device or the web for whatever info
you need. You can get Google Search results just like on a computer by either
entering a query and tapping 'Search' or tapping the microphone and speaking
your query,"
Google states on its
website.
The new voice search feature is currently only available
in the U.S. English and for the iphone only, according to the announcement.
Those who are interested are advised to visit the App store and check out Google
Mobile App to download the voice-search App.
To use the new version of Google Mobile App, a user may
just hold the phone to his ear, wait for the beep and say what he wants to
search. The Google Mobile App will return search results formatted for his
iphone, Bret says on his blog.
Google Mobile App is intended for mobile phone users to
find the information they need through Google Search. The old fashion way is to
type the query. But the new version allows a user to just talk and find the
info he wants.
Another new feature is that Search with My Location
allows finding business, weather, and movie info easy, as Google says on its
website.
Other features of Google Mobile App include, cited in verbatim from Google website.
Local search suggestions on a map. See nearby business
suggestions on Google Maps -- just tap the "near me" suggestions.
Instant access to search. Start a Google search with just
one click.
Google Suggest. Get relevant search suggestions as you
type, saving you keystrokes.
URL suggestions. Get to popular web sites quickly by
tapping site web address suggestions.

book.
