Deviled Eggs Recipe Rachael Ray
Easter for 2010 is here on Sunday. This is to give our readers a deviled eggs recipe so they may prepare for deviled eggs or simply hard boiled eggs for the event.
This deviled eggs recipe was originally posted by Vivian Jao on Rachael Ray Mag.com. But we have slightly modified the directions so food consumers may find it even easier to prepare deviled eggs.
As we mention on one early posting, one thing food consumers need to know is that eggs can be over cooked easily. That is why low heat to slowly hard boil eggs is recommended.
In addition, food consumers also need to know after the eggs are boiled, they should be placed in ice cold water immediately. This will allow you to peel the shell off the hard boiled eggs easily.
Ingredients
12 eggs, large or small, it's your call.
6 tablespoons of mayonnaise
2 teaspoons of mustard, curry and white pepper powder may also be good alternatives.
1 pinch of cayenne pepper
Some salt and black pepper, paprika
Feel free to make your own deviled eggs recipe by using your favorite ingredients.
Directions
1) In a large pot, place all eggs preferably in a single layer and pour cold water to completely cover the eggs;
2) Cover the pot, bring to a boil over low heat and once the temperature reaches the boiling point or water starts to boil, turn off heat and wait for about 6-8 minutes;
(If you are impatient enough, then use high heat and once the temperature reaches the boiling point, then shut off the heat and let it sit for 10 minutes. This is what Vivian Jao advises;)
3) Transfer hard boiled eggs immediately to ice cold water, this will make it easy to remove the shell;
4) Break the shell evenly and remove the shell from the hard boiled eggs, halve them with a knife and take out the yolks into a bowl and the egg whites on another plate;
5) Mash the yolks with the mayonnaise, mustard and cayenne pepper; sprinkle salt and black pepper.
6) Spoon the yolk back into the egg white halves and dust with paprika.
Deviled eggs are ready to serve.
