Turkey Brine Recipe

Ingredients

1 gallon vegetable broth
1 cup sea salt
1 tbsp crushed dried rosemary
1 tbsp dried sage
1 tbsp dried thyme
1 tbsp dried savory
1 gallon ice water

Those who like to have a bit sweet taste, may add half a cup of honey, which can promote browning.

Directions

1, Put vegetable broth, sea salt, rosemary, sage, thyme, and savory in a large stock pot.
2, Bring to a boil while stirring frequently. Then let it cool to room temperature.
3, When the broth is cool, then pour it into a 5-gallon bucket and sir in the ice water.
4, Wash turkey, remove the innards, and dry the turkey. Place the turkey into the braine until the vacity is filled. Then keep the bucket in the refrigerator overnight.
5, Take the turkey out draining off all the braine and pat dry.
6,  Roast cook the turkey.  Keep the drippings for gravy.

Note that brined turkeys cook 20 to 30 minutes faster.
