Easy Rider Actor Dennis Hopper Dies from Prostate Cancer
Dennis Hopper, actor well known as the director, star and co writer of Easy Rider, has died after a short battle against prostate cancer, his production company Easy Rider Productions was cited by ABC News as confirming. He was 74.
Dennis Hopper was dead at 8:15 am PT at his home in Venice California from prostate cancer complications, Alex Hitz, a friend of the actor, was cited as telling Reuters.
Dennis Hopper was diagnosed with prostate cancer in Oct. 2009 when he was admitted to hospital for treatment of severe, flu-like symptoms.
At the time, Doctors said the prostate cancer had already spread to his bones, making the disease incurable, meaning they could not do anything to save his life.
In his last days, Dennis Hopper had been fighting two battles, in hospital, against prostate cancer and in court, against his wife.
Dennis Hopper claimed that his wife Duff-Hopper stole valuable artwork and other property with a total worth of more than 1.5 million dollars, ABC News reported.
Dennis Hopper proved to be a good man. In his final days, he made financial arrangements for his allegedly estranged wife and family.
ABC News reported that court documents filed in March revealed Duffy-Hopper would receive $250,000 from his $1 million life insurance policy and three adult children from his previous marriages and his youngest daughter from his marriage to Duff-Hopper would receive a substantial portion of the insurance.
Dennis Hopper was not alone in terms of suffering prostate cancer. Each year as many as 180,000 men in the United States are expected to be diagnosed with the disease and the disease kills more than 30,000 men annually in the country.
Prostate cancer is generally growing slowly. But some can be aggressive and deadly. Among other things, a man's diet is believed to have something to do with the risk of the disease.
