University of Minnesota president has prostate cancer
University of Minnesota President Bob Bruininks disclosed Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, Business Journal reported.
The disease Bruininks has was said in its early stage. Prostate cancer in most cases is not as aggressive as other cancers.
Bruininks was quoted as writing on his website "my condition is highly treatable with an excellent prognosis for a quickly and complete recovery."
Prostate cancer is diagnosed in more than 180,000 men each year in the United States and the disease kills about 25,000 annually in the country, according to the National Cancer Institute.
