Tylenol recall 2009

McNell Consumer Healthcare and Food and Drug Administration notified consumers of a nationwide recall of certain Tylenol products because of potential manufacturing problems.

The notice was posted on the FDA website on Sept 25 although the company actually initiated a recall of certain oral suspension Children's and Infants' TYLENOL products distributed between March 2008 and May 2009 because of potential contamination of bacteria in raw materials used for the products.

In a letter dated Sept 18, 2009 and addressed to healthcare professional, Dr. Edwin K. Kuffner, vice president - Medical Affairs at McNell Consumer Healthcare says his company is voluntarily recalling certain lots of Children's and infants' Tylenol products that were manufactured between April 2008 and June 2008.

The trigger for the Tylenol recall is that the gram-negative bacteria Burkholderia cepacia (B. cepacia) was found in raw material. The portion of tainted raw material was not used in the production of any finished product. But as a precaution, McNell decided to recall all products that utilized any of the raw material at the same time the contamination was detected.

The company said no bacteria has been found in finished product and the finished product has met all specifications. And the FDA said no illness has been found associated with the recalled Tylenol products.

I have 2 children and I'm a frequent user of all the childrens meds and I also use equate versions due to the economy does that put my children at risk as well?

I have two different bottles of tylenol for my daughter and am concerned-the 1st is infant drops grape lot# SEMO47 exp 04/10; and the 2nd is infant drops cherry lot# SJM137 exp 08/10 both are 1 oz. PLEASE RESPOND! THANKS-a worried mommy............

I have Concentrated Tylenol Infants' Drops. Dye Free Cherry Flavor. 1FL. OZ. The lot # is rubbed off, but it looks like it says SSM018 exp. 11/10. Please let me know if I need to be worried. I've had a sick baby and the bottle is half empty. I am scared to death by this!

i understand but i have 4 kids and the dates that they r recalling have already been consumed in my home i buy tylenol at least 8-12 times a year the children tylenol at that and a bottle last about 4 days with my 4 kids that get sick all the time so what am i supposed to do

i have infant tylenol that i use frequently for my teething 4 month old. im not sure if it is on this list because half of the lot number got rubbed off please e mail me if there is another way i would know if my childs tylenol has been recalled

I recently purchase Tylenol infants drops for my nine month old daughter. I am worried because the Tylenol I have IS on the list of recall. I also have two unused bottles. I am very concern please respond!

Please re-read the article!!!!!!!!!! It says NO bacteria was found in the finished product. NO illness has been found to be associated with any of the recalled products. It's a VOLUNTARY recall. The FDA has NOT ordered it, so there's no need to panic.

I use the cherry one but it is from the DG brand. Is it a recall? I have 3 little girl that i use it for and 2 of them have been sick and i used it with them. Please let me no if it has a recall on it!!! Thanks Michelle

I do have a bottle of recalled cherry liquid 4 oz. lot SCM068. It expires 02/10. Hopefully sharing the expiration date will help concerned parents know if their product is produced around the same time.

Ok, my sons is not on the list. But that is just this one bottle and this one list. So, I guess we will never really know.

As for all u mean ass rude people talking bad about the parents on here for posting lot #'s and asking questions. You either don't have kids or don't care about ur kids. Because any parent that actully gives a crap about their child/children would not be posting rude mean comments about other parents being worried and concerned about their child/children. If the company and/or government would answer some of the parents questions instead of just posting a few lot #'s online, maybe we wouldn't have to worry and panic. And yes there is always a need to worry and panic over your child/children. That is your job as a parent. And there may not be any children sick right now, but who's to say in a yr, or 5, or 10 they don't get sick from one dose of tylenol that was given to them while they had a fever at a small age. You can't say and no one knows for sure. So unless you have a concern for ur child and the product you trusted was safe for your child/children....shut up and let the others speak.

I check my sons tylenol and it was on the list above, sure enough I discarded. I went to Walgreens yesterday, got a new bottle and brought it home. When I check the UPC 300450296047 from the new bottle, it has been recalled too. Don't understand why are they still selling it. Parents be aware that some pharmacies are still selling the recalled products.

Im concerned as well. I have used meijer brand, cvs brand, and the infants drops cherry. My lots and exp. dates are not in your list, but I have used and thrown away a bottle from that time frame. So, now what? What do I look for as my child is currently sick. What are the effects of this problems that I should look for if that last bottle was affected?????? Please respond!
