Viagra may cause hearing loss, what else can men use?

A new study suggests that taking too much of Viagra and Viagra-like medications indicted to treat erectile dysfunction may lead to hearing loss.

The study published in the journal Archives of Otolaryngology--Head & Neck Surgery showed one in three men who took Viagra reported hearing loss compared to one in ten men aged 40 or older who did not take the medications.

Gerald McGwin, an epidemiologist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health and colleagues conducted the study, but critics said the data were self-reported and not as accurate as thought.

High doses of Viagra have been found to damage hearing in mice.  Drug makers acknowledge the risk by placing a black box warning about the potential hearing loss induced by Viagra made by Pfizer and its competitors like Eli Lilly's Cialis.

The researchers said further research is needed to confirm the findings.

Viagra is helpful.  But more needs to be done to better a man's experience.  A health observer suggested that eating plenty of lean meat, seafood, and cold water fatty fish like salmon, vitamin C and garlic helps men as well.
