How many cosmetics or personal care products you use in a day? EWG-Newsletter

Dear Reader,

Have you ever counted how many cosmetics or personal care products you use in a day? Chances are it's about 10.

We launched our Skin Deep Cosmetics Database seven years ago because we saw people putting all sorts of products on their bodies without knowing if they contained harmful chemicals. Since neither the cosmetics industry nor the government was stepping up to inform the public, we decided we'd better do it.

Seven years later, the industry still hasn't taken action -- but we have. We've just completed a major makeover of Skin Deep so you have the best, most up-to-date information to keep you and your family safe.

We depend on your support to keep giving you the information that no one else out there will provide. If EWG has helped you choose safer products for your family, won't you please consider making a donation before our critical May 4 fundraising deadline? If you donate today, we'll send you our updated popular cosmetics guide to help you pick safer products.

Click here to make a donation of $5 or more to EWG today and get our brand-new cosmetics shopping guide. We're counting on you to help us continue providing this important service.

As people apply an average of 126 unique ingredients on their skin daily, EWG is shocked that the government doesn't require any pre-market testing or health studies for these products. And the Cosmetics Ingredients Review, the industry's self-policing safety panel, hasn't reviewed more than half of the thousands of ingredients companies use in cosmetics.

We think it's preposterous that companies are able to market products full of chemicals without fully testing whether or not those ingredients are safe for our families. That's why we took it upon ourselves to let consumers know what they're putting on their bodies.

We want to continue providing this service to you, but we need your help to do it.

If you look to EWG to give you research-based guidance, to help you shop smarter and avoid toxic ingredients -- please consider making a donation today. With your support, we will be able to continue our investigative research that you depend on to make better decisions for your family.

Click here to make your donation of $5 or more to EWG so we can reach our spring fundraising goal by May 4. If you give today you'll also get our free cosmetics guide to help you make the right choices when you shop.

We're so glad that we can provide you with this critical information and we want nothing more than to keep doing it for a long time to come.

Sincerely,

Ken Cook
