NEARLY 70 MILLION POUNDS OF HASS AVOCADOS TO BE CONSUMED
BY FOOTBALL FANS DURING BIG GAME FESTIVITIES
Hass Avocado Board Teams Up with Football Legend Joe Montana to
Offer Fans Joe Montana’s Tomatillo Touchdown Guacamole Recipe

IRVINE, Calif. – Football fans are expected to consume an estimated 69.6 million pounds of Hass avocados during Big Game festivities, as announced today by the Hass Avocado Board (HAB). That’s enough to cover Dallas’ Cowboys Stadium® football field (which will be hosting the Big Game on February 6), end zone to end zone, 26.9 feet deep in avocados. Historically, Big Game day is one of the largest consumption days of the year for Hass avocados. This year is no exception with more than 139 million Hass avocados set to be devoured during game day parties.

To help inspire consumers when it comes to planning their offense for Big Game menus, HAB has once again tapped football hall of famer Joe Montana to share one of his favorite guacamole recipes – Joe Montana’s Tomatillo Touchdown Guacamole – with fans. This dip features creamy Hass avocados and tomatillos for a spicy kick that is sure to jump-start any football party.

One of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL® history, Montana enjoyed an illustrious 14-year career with the San Francisco 49ers®, where he led the team to four Super Bowl® wins. He was selected to eight Pro Bowls® and named Super Bowl® MVP three times, and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame® in 2000 in recognition of his achievements. Montana now brings his lessons of preparation to the kitchen when it comes to creating meals for game day parties.

“Ever since retiring from professional football, Sundays are now a time for me to spend with my family and some great food,” said former NFL player Joe Montana. “I like making game day snacks with Hass avocados because they’re delicious and they go great with anything, from classic guacamole to toppings for things like sandwiches, burgers, chili or nachos.”
