Ivanka Trump weds Jared Kushner
By Rachel Stockton
Ivanka Trump and fiancé Jared Kushner exchanged nuptials at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
Ivanka’s wedding gown was a Vera Wang creation; Wang tells the New York Times that Ivanka liked the look of Grace Kelly’s we dding dress, so Wang commenced from there. Three layers of lace and long sleeves made for a “simply” elegant effect. When asked if she thought Ivanka’s wedding dress would start a fashion trend, the designer said she hoped so, as she’s been designing strapless gowns for the last ten years.
Trump, who has converted to Kushner’s Orthodox Judaism, was respectful of the Jewish tradition of modest covering, as was demonstrated by her wed ding gown. Female guests were given shawls to wear as they entered the building.
The couple is planning a honeymoon to Africa in December; there will be another reception for them at the Puck Building in downtown Manhattan.
Although Trump is best known for being Donald Trump’s daughter, she has established herself as being a real estate mogul in her own right. In just a matter of weeks, she will be on hand for the grand opening of the Trump International Hotel and Tower Waikiki.
Among those in attendance was Trump’s good friend Regis Philbin; Barbara Walters and Vera Wang were both in attendance.
Wedding bells and hotel grand openings are not all Ivanka has on her plate. As co-host of “Celebrity Apprentice,” she began taping for the new season two weeks before the wedding. The series is slated to begin in January of 2010.
Additionally, she has a new book entitled “The Trump Card: Play to Win in Work and Life.”
As for Jared Kushner, he has an established career in his own right, as publisher of The New York Daily Observer; this certainly elevates him beyond mere “Mr. Ivanka Trump” status.
