The online auction giant eBay Inc suffered some computing problems on Saturday which caused erroneous search results, Wall Street Journal reported.

The search glitches were noticed Saturday morning. The company posted notes several times addressing the technical issues.

Ebay posted a note at 11:17 am pacific time, WSJ reported, saying that "we are experiencing some issues with a delay in search being displayed."

With the search problem unsolved, the company stated in a subsequent note that the search system was still having difficulty due to errors in some back-end systems.

Later afternoon, when shoppers did searches using keywords like iPod on eBay's U.S. site, the auction site simply gave up by saying "we were unable to run the search you entered, please try again in a few minutes.

An eBay spokesman was cited as saying the company will have the search dysfunction corrected and restored to a full capacity by Sunday.
