Anti-GMO organization needs your help

Happy Halloween!
This spirited donor will match all donations processed by October 31st!
| During my conference address on Monday, I mentioned how the economic crisis had left our Institute in financial distress, and an audience member spontaneously offered to match $10,000 in donations processed before October 31st. There was a crescendo of applause throughout the room, and people immediately piled bills onto the table. So, we’re starting with $203 in the match-pool. That means we have just $9,797 to raise to over the next two weeks to receive the full matching gift. |
I want to thank you all for your support in this tough time. I was very touched by the personal comments left by recent donors on our FirstGiving site.
Here are some of those comments from around the nation:
• If I were employed, I'd give more.
• Stop them (Monsanto, Bayer, DuPont, Dow) from forcing farmers to grow GM crops.
• Removing GMO's from our food supply will lower health care costs more than any other thing we can do.
• Thank you for working to protect the earth from yet another mass poisoning.
• We appreciate your work to free us of GMO dangers, and educate the world.
• Should be #1 priority in everyone's life.
• Thank you for what you do. There is no more important issue to our health.
• Monsanto's days are numbered.
• Crucial; of utmost importance. Life is at stake.
• Sorry it's taken me so long. I should have given a long time ago. Wish it could be more.
• Jeffrey Smith…you're awesome! Keep up the great work!
• Removing GMO foods was one of the steps in curing myself of cancer. Thank you for your good work.
• Surely the founding fathers would have specified freedom from GMOs had they known they were coming.
• For all Earth's creatures.
• I do not think people realize the magnitude of this problem.
• I want to do more and will once I am employed again.
• This is so important to our health and environment.
• Let's go! The USDA & FDA need to protect the people not Agribusiness & Chemical Companies.
At a meeting of the Community Food Security Coalition yesterday, I raised a question on GMOs from the audience to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. At the end of my rather bold question, a room full of hundreds of food experts erupted into applause.
When Vilsack responded, attempting to tie GMOs to the noble cause of feeding the world, many of them started hissing and booing. They were, after all, among the world’s top experts in feeding the world. They knew that the feed-the-world-argument is total fiction. I like to think it made an impression on Vilsack, but I’m guessing I’ll have to do a bit more.
Give us a treat this Halloween season, by supporting the Campaign for Healthier Eating in America with a donation that pushes us closer to our $9,797 goal. We’ll let you know the results on October 31st!
Take care and safe eating,
Jeffrey Smith
