Duluth News Tribune (DNT) cited the AP as reporting that Minneapolis filmmaker Doug Hajicek has set up an infra red camera to monitor a hibernating wild bear in a den near Ely. The bear is reportedly pregnant and will give birth at any minute from now on.

A video feed was scheduled to be available on the North American Bear center's website at www.bear.org, but due to the high volume of traffic, the site was crashed and the black bear den web cam was moved already to www.wildearth.tv.

Wildearth.tv posted a message on its webpage saying:

"On Friday the 8th January Doug Hajicek (with the help of Pix Controller and www.bear.org) installed an Infra Red camera system (and he did it LIVE, check the archives) into Lily's den near Ely, Minnesota. It is believed that Lily (a 2 year old black bear) is pregnant and there is an above average chance that she will give birth in mid January. This event is not to be missed, watch Lily on her Bear Den channel."

DNT reported that Hajicek set up a similar black bear web cam in 1999, but no cubs were born.

Unfortunately, wildearth.tv home page is right now experiencing an outage and the site is nearly inaccessible.
