The FCC is developing a National Broadband Plan, also known as the Broadband Initiative, with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. According to the FCC, the purpose of the initiative is to make broadband available in areas with little or no broadband access, while creating jobs and providing other public benefits. The FCC must deliver this plan to the United States Congress by February 17, 2010. Additional information on the National Broadband Plan is available on the FCC's Broadband.gov website. This website also hosts Blogband, which is the official government blog of the National Broadband Plan.
