Pictsweet Recalls Green Peas - A Great Healthy Food

The Pictsweet company based out of Bells, Tennessee on Oct 15 announced a voluntary recall for store brand frozen vegetables - frozen green peas - with certain codes due to the possible contamination of glass fragments.

The recalled frozen vegetables are distributed only to Kronger stores in the Southeast in United States and Wal-Mart stores nationwide.  Please read here for more information on the recall.

The news reminds us of a great natural food - green peas!   Green peas for our readers' information are a very good source of vitamin K, manganese, vitamin C, dietary fiber, vitamin B1 and folate.  very good source is defined as providing more 25 percent of daily recommended intake per ounce.

Green peas are also a good source  of vitamin A, tryptophan, phosphorus, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), protein, vitamin b3 (niacin), magnesium, vitamin B2 (riboflavin), copper, iron, zinc and potassium. A good source is defined as a food that provides more than 10 percent of daily recommended intake per ounce.
