What men may eat to boost their pleasure
The following was previously published on foodconsumer.org and republished here to give new visitors some ideas about what they or their partners can eat to boost bedroom performance and sexual pleasure. Indeed, these foods are not just for men; they are for women as well.
Seafood: Seafood increases libido. Zinc found in seafood such as oysters, shrimp and crab is good for semen production. A zinc deficiency affects sperm quantitatively and qualitatively.
Oysters: Some people look down on oysters thinking they are too dirty to be put in their diet. But oysters, which are rich in zinc and other nutrients, can promote production of men's sperm and boost their sexual desire. Oysters are also rich in taurine and glycogen, which nourish the liver and the body as a whole.
Salmon and other deep-sea fish: The most obvious beneficial nutrient in salmon is omega 3 fatty acids. High stress leads to hyperglycemia in men and can cause stroke in men at young age. Omega-3 fatty acids in deep-sea fish can prevent the blood from clotting; reduce arterial contraction and lower glycosides - together greatly benefiting cardiovascular health. Good nutrition of this fish can also boost sperm production. Men should eat oily fish such a salmon and mackerel twice a week. If you feel like giving salmon a try, try Alaska Salmon, which is believed to be the only clean fish you can eat on the earth for now.
Shrimp: Some people found that shrimp and maybe some other seafood also help boost energy and or desire in the bedroom. But some people avoid shrimps because most of them on the market are raised in farms. Farm-raised shrimps have been found to have some environmental pollutants. But who would care if they can bring you greater pleasure?
Vitamin C and arginine: These two nutrition supplements have been studied and researchers found they enhanced production of nitric oxide which is beneficial to the cardiovascular health. Cardiovascular problems can cause impotence. A rich food source of arginine is the peanut. Many dietary supplements for men also contain this wonder ingredient.
Vitamin C rich foods: The quality and quantity of sperm is on the decline in men starting at age 24. If there is any drug that can prevent the sperm deterioration, that drug would be vitamin C. A study by researchers at the University of Texas shows men who took 1000 milligrams of vitamin C for sixty days increased their sperm production by 60 percent and viability by 30 percent. In addition, the number of abnormal sperm decreased.
Vitamin C rich foods include kiwi, oranges, green cauliflower, and asparagus. If a man is highly stressed, then he needs more of this nutrient. Vitamin C promotes secretion of a cortical hormone to help tolerate stress.
Strawberries: Some studies found strawberries could help not only because of zinc in them but also because they contain lots of other useful nutrients – including vitamin C.
Garlic: Garlic is also very good for enhancement of your sexual desire. This can be particularly significant when you use it along with Salmon fish and or peanuts. The mechanism to explain this effect remains unknown. But although the effect is nice, its smell is socially offensive. If you do try garlic, make sure to use some other nice smell such as peppermint to mask the garlic smell before heading to the bedroom.
Garlic has a strong bactericidal, which can destroy invading bacteria in vivo. In addition, it promotes the absorption of vitamin B1 and the metabolism of carbohydrates to produce energy and reduce fatigue. Another function, which should not be ignored, is that garlic enhances immunity. Garlic contains lead selenide, an antioxidant. Garlic is regarded as anti-cancer food.
Tomatoes: Tomatoes contain acids that promote secretion of gastric acid and help digest protein and other nutrients. It also contains vitamin C which is involved in making bone collagen and keep arteries healthy. Tomatoes also contain the antioxidant lycopene, known for its beneficial effect on the prostate gland.
Soy: Soy contains phyto-estrogen, which is known to benefit women’s health. But soy is also good for men. For instance, studies show Japanese men who eat soy products often are at lower risk of prostate cancer than their counterparts in the West. Soy also helps prevent loss of bone minerals effectively. Men start losing bone minerals at the age of 60 just like post-menopausal women. Soy lecithin is known to improve short-term memory and learning ability.
Pumpkin Seed: Prostate enlargement is a problem for many men over 40. A U.S study shows that patients who took pumpkin seed extract reduced urinating frequency and improved other systems. Pumpkin seed is a good source of vitamin E, which can help retard aging process.
Carrots: Carrots contain beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in human system. Vitamin A enhances immune response and prevents free radicals from damaging cells. In addition, carrots contain potassium, which helps lower blood pressure, and the fiber content can protect against intestinal diseases. Carrots are believed to be anti-cancer.
Whole grains: Men often experience high stress from work. The B vitamins including B1, B2, B6, B12 and folic acid are important for management of such stress. They help stabilize the nervous system and increase energy production, which help tolerate stress. Whole grain foods including whole wheat bread, brown rice and wheat germ contain high amounts of vitamin B. The polysaccharides in whole wheat bread can slow the release of energy and help men relax.
Water: 75 percent of human brain is water. The first organ dehydration affects is the brain. Dehydration results in fatigue and retard response. A man needs at least 2 liters of spring water daily.
Green tea: Green tea contains vitamin C which is absent in black tea. Vitamin C helps prevent colds and nourish the skin. It also contains anti-aging amino acids. Flavonoid compounds in green tea can also lower blood pressure.
Red wine: If men have to drink, they should drink red wine because the antioxidant polyphenols can reduce risk of cardiovascular disease and help prevent arteriosclerosis. The grape compounds in red wine also help dementia.
To have a good effect, you should eat sizable amounts of as many types as you can. In addition, you should try to exercise more than 30 minutes a day. Fast walking or jogging or any other exercise that moves your two legs would be beneficial. Physical exercise helps circulation of the blood, which is very important for a man to be manly.
