Who are past Super Bowl winners?
The history of the Super Bowl starts with the merging of the American Football League with National Football League. The first Super Bowl, or World Championship Game, between the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL) was held in 1967 and has been played every year since. In 1969, the name "Super Bowl" became official. The AFL merged with the NFL in 1970, and the teams were divided between the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). The winner of each Super Bowl receives the Vince Lombardi Trophy, named after Vince Lombardi, the coach for the Green Bay Packers who led his team to victory in each of the first two Super Bowls.
