Impacts of genetically engineered crops on pesticide use in the U.S. -- the first sixteen years

Editor's note: Crops are genetically modified often to increase their resistance to the herbicides so that they can survive when herbicides are used to remove weed. This is known to increase the use of herbicides as shown in this report. Crops can also be genetically modified to produce a toxin in the crops to prevent these crops from being damaged by insects. GMO foods of this type are often used in animal feed because of the toxin. For at least once, a toxin-producing corn got into a fast food chain restaurant!
