Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is rare and its symptoms include stretchy or fragile skin, abnormal would healing, scare that stretch over time, flexible joints that can extend beyond the normal range, dislocation of the shoulder, knee, fingers, hip, wrist and collarbone. The ED syndrome may also come with symptoms like muscle weakness, easy bruising, and heart problems. There are six major types of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which cause different symptoms. Genetic alterations or mutation changed the normal production of collagen, a fibrous protein that give connective tissues strength and elasticity. It is not easy for a person who has a history of this ED disorder to avoid the disease. But modified lifestyle and home remedy may benefit the person with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. Modern medicine does not offer a cure, but something can be done to ease the disorder. A study published in 2005 in Medical Hypotheses proposed that nutrition intervention may help people with EDS. In the article, Mantle D and colleagues from Pharma Nord in the UK hypothesized that "the symptoms associated with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome may be successfully alleviated using a specific (and potentially synergistic) combination of nutritional supplements, comprising calcium, carnitine, coenzyme Q(10), glucosamine, magnesium, methyl sulphonyl methane, pycnogenol, silica, vitamin C, and vitamin K, at dosages which have previously been demonstrated to be effective against the above symptoms in other disorders."
