My dad got the swine flu injection in October 09 and got the shingles from it. He also knows of 4 others who also got the shingles who had just had the injection. After having the shingles Dad and one other lady also got the post herptic neuralgia which is as a result to the nerve damage from the shingles. This could take years to go away. He is in the worst pain his ever had. His had pain that bad his had to put a towel in his mouth cover his screaming from family and neighbours. He pleads for people to stop having this injection!!!

I don't see how you could shingles from a flu vaccine. Shingles is from the herpes/chicken pox, etc...unless the shot was contaminated with a completely differnet type of virus...?

Julia,
It is possible to develop shingles after having had a vacination, because the vacine taxes your immune system. You develop shingles as a result of a weakened immune system - all people who have had the chickenpox are at risk because the virus stays dormant in your body forever - until you get weaker - like after having a vacination - or having the flu could do it too.

My husband developed shingles within 48 hours of getting the H1N1 injection ten days ago. As soon as the symptoms appeared I felt there was a connection to the vaccine. I wish I had done some research on this beforehand so he could have avoided the pain he is now going through.

I'm a very healthy and active 60 yr old male with no serious or chronic illness or history of a weakened immune system. Six days after getting my H1N1 flu shot (my first flu shot ever) I contracted shingles and 4 weeks later am still trying to cope with the pain and discomfort. Doctor advised that she had treated a number of shingles cases in recent months and in about half the cases the patient had received an H1N1 shot.
Maybe a coincidence but I think the medical fraternity need to explore this possible link further.

I am not usually skeptical of vaccinations, and have never had adverse side effects from any of them. However, I developed shingles several days after getting my H1N1 shot. This could just be a coincidence, but I am a healthy 25-year-old with very little stress right now, so I'm suspicious...

I had the newly released (in Australia) seasonal/H1N1 FluVax last week and developed shingles 3 days later. Luckily recognised the rash and am now on the anti-viral drugs to help with potential nerve damage. Too much of a coincidence for me. I was perfectly fit and healthy and only had the jab due to upcoming round-the-world trip. I wish I hadn't bothered.

My husband and I had the flu vaccine 2 weeks ago. Friday he came down with a horrible sore throat and couldn't swallow. Today , 7 days later he was diagnosed with Shingles in his throat and nose. Coincidentally, I had just recovered from some sort of illness with a lung infection prior to getting the vaccine. I suddenly came down with terrible chest congestion and now what appears to be a cold in addition on Sunday after his initial onset. I am now running a slight fever although I have been on antibiotics since Sunday. I can't help but suspect the triple flu vaccine. I don't know what is wrong with me.....I am not really getting well and my husband has lost 10 pounds in a week and is suffering greatly. I am very worried since he is diabetic and has stents in his heart. Why don't they admit that this is a potential side effect of the vaccine? I am furious.
