foodconsumer.org: Free Prescription Discount Card Saves Money, Raises Funds for Veterans Free Prescription Discount Card Saves Money, Raises Funds for Veterans ================================================================================ admin on 11/21/2009 01:23:00 By Genevieve Kiger The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) announced on November 18th a new drug discount card that provides users with significant savings on prescriptions, while helping to raise money with every purchase for American veterans through United Networks of America. Who Qualifies for the Discount Prescription Card? Anyone and everyone is free to use the discount drug card, "regardless of age, income, or existing health coverage." Simply download the form from the discount card website, provide your name, and print out the card. Then simply provide it at a participating pharmacy – of which there are over 57,000 national and local pharmacies, including most. There are no fees, restrictions, or limits on use. What Are the Benefits of the Program? Every time the card is used, the cardholder receives a steep discount on prescriptions, up to 75% off normal prescription costs. And, each time the card is used, 50 cents will be donated to the DAV. Once the card has been presented to a particular pharmacy once, you – and the DAV – will continue to receive the benefits for the life of the program. "While 50 cents might not sound like much, it adds up quickly, assisting us in our ongoing efforts to build better lives for America's disabled veterans and their families," says Arthur H. Wilson, DAV National Adjutant. This is especially important with so many of our brave men and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The discount prescription card can even be used in conjunction with another plan to reduce the amount of co-payments, or cover medications not already covered by their insurance plan.
