Or people should get their fat ass on a treadmill and work it off, rather than expecting a miracle pill to do the work for them.
The settlement should be a piece of exercise equipment for them - no cash.

Everyone hates CORRUPT lawyers you mean. The sue-happy ones. Why would a group of lawyers decide to sue a company? Doesn't even sound like they are representing anyone, they just want to sue. And all those class action lawsuits end up with 20 or 30 lawyers getting millions and the people they "represent" getting about $1.50. Oh and how many organ failures are there a year due to being fat and eating processed foods? Where do you think all that crap in your system gets filtered anyway? Nope this just a bunch of lawyers with dollar signs in their eyes $_$ .

Jack Jones: Your statement is referred to as a mistaken reversal of conditionality. Ultimately, this is one of the many reasons why you'd need a lawyer.
To make a blanket statement that ALL lawyers are seeking out money is just plain stupid. Yes, some may be, but to infer ALL are is just pathetic. How about an analogy: a priest rapes a boy; therefore, all priests are rapist. Nice logic, eh…. It’s what you’re inferring.

Lawyers should go after FDA too. It's not the fist time that the FDA warns us years after that a drug has been selling without medical prescription causing deaths or serious illness in many people.

This lawsuit wont get far... Ultimately the lawyers will realize that Hydroxycut products stated this product could contain many side effects, wad not approved by the fda, and was not intended to diagnose or cure anything.

It's no different than me buying some bacon and then having a heart attack. Additionally, I read somewhere that nearly 9 million people tried hydroxycut and so far only 23 reported serious side effects. Those are pretty good odds seeing as how tylenol has more serious side effects sometimes.

The hydroxycut they sell now is crap compared to the ephedra one they sold back in 2003. That one really dropped the pounds but really did a number to your heart and blood pressure.

Plain and simple, FDA has no authority to remove hydroxycut since it was never approved by them, Iovate voluntarily took it off, and most likely they will prove that it was negligence on the part of people who got sick saying they probably drank a lot, or didn't drink enough water etc...

A well-written story, however you should be asking the question: why aren't more harmful products being pulled from shelves?

According to the CDC, for example, on average 500 people per year die from taking aspirin in America AS INSTRUCTED on the label, and thousands are hospitalized each year for taking aspirin due to liver damage. Yet, aspirin is still sold over-the-counter even to children.

Now, I am not proposing that aspirin should be removed from the shelves any more than should Hydroxycut. My point is that the only reported cases I've seen from the CDC so far regarding Hydroxycut was regarding people who abused the product not following label directions.

We've got to follow the money trail on this story because almost identical products to Hydroxycut are being sold "by prescription" manufactured by the nation's large pharmeceutical companies who's executives sit on the FDA board of directors. Hydroxycut is an effective non-prescription over-the-counter product for those who wish to use it that sells for 1/4 the price of identical prescription products.

I just thought I'd throw my twice-cents worth your way especially since other common over-the-counter products result in far more deaths and damage than Hydroxycut, however they are manufactured by large chemical companies with the cash to bribe Congressmen and the FDA to keep their products on store shelves.

First of all I know of many people whom have terrible illnesses that cause them to be obese. One of them is PCOS and it occurs in women. Another problem that many have is water retaining- this doesn't help either. Then there's issues such as post-partum depression. Several of my friends suffered from this for years, and their problem wasn't that they ATE it was that they didn't eat. Slowly they were causing their intestines to swell and they were killing themselves slowly; by the time they would eat something a couple of days later they would blow up like a balloon. Sometimes it isn't because you are lazy or because you are a slob, or over eating, sometimes it's because you have a chemical disorder that doesn't allow your body to actually turn your sugar and food intake into healthy energy instead it turns them all into stored fat. And sometimes people don't have the money to consult a specialist to help them, or for that matter own a treadmill or go to the gym. Believe it or not there are more low income families that have obesity problem than wealthy families...And unless you have been there or have seen someone's struggle with obesity maybe you should keep your rude comments to yourself. One of my coworkers has been dealing with obesity since she was small. All her life and now that she's 50 and has health insurance etc now she's been seeing a specialist and can afford to pay for the foods she needs to take which are rich in antioxidants and will help control her weight. My cousin has always been obese. She is only 17 years old and is almost 6ft tall 300lbs. She has this from her family, her father is the same, her aunts and uncles, her cousins are all tall and big. Her mother is a thin woman, and couldn't even believe what was going on with her munchkin when at age 6 started blowing up like a balloon when she is a health conscious woman, always thin and fit and tried to pass that down to her child. I have seen them try everything from Jenny Craig to the Adkins diet, to nothing but veggies and fruit and she's 17, 300lbs.. Therefore it isn't just cuz they are lazy people that don't want to go to the treadmill it's sometimes unfortunately they can't help it...Everyone I know whom is obese I have never seen them eating more of a twinkie then the next healthy person and I understand their frustration because I am one of those women whom have tried for many years to keep my weight under right and proper control. I tried hydroxycut myself and took it properly drinking about 15 glasses of water a day, no kidding, hitting that treadmill, weights, cardio workout, etc...And instead of losing the weight now am hypertensive...And I actually gained 2x the weight while taking this pill.. I was doing this because I wanted to be able to get out of my depression. I have 3 children and am a single mom. Working, going to school, and raising 3 kids is not easy. After my husband decided to move away, well things didn't go so well still I never stopped taking care of my kids. At the cost of my own health. And I wasn't looking for a miracle pill, I was looking for a small weightloss jumpstart like I said I had a diet plan and calorie counting and hitting the gym, and instead of losing weight I gained a lot more than that...
