foodconsumer.org: New Jersey Company Issues Slim-Fast Recall New Jersey Company Issues Slim-Fast Recall ================================================================================ admin on 12/04/2009 23:03:00 By Rachel Stockton Slim-Fast, the diet shake manufacturer made by Unilever and based in Englewood New Jersey, has issued a recall on all of its ready-to-drink products that are sold in cans. Quality control found that some of the cans could be contaminated by a mirco-organism called Bacillus cereous, which can cause nausea, dieting and diarrhea. Regardless of flavor, Slim-Fast has included all of its canned and ready-to-drink products in the ban. The micro-organism itself is more of a nuisance than a dangerous health threat, but the company is diligently investigating the source of the contamination; until they’ve discovered the problem, they have ceased all production of their canned products. The company is asking consumers to throw away all cans of Slim-Fast they have in their possession. Call (800) 896-9479 for a full refund.
