Dear Readers

Thanks to you, we are making considerable progress in our campaign to stop the Taiwanese government from infecting puppies and other animals with the rabies virus! As you know, these experiments would result in the suffering of innocent animals, and there is no scientific need to move ahead with this plan.

We just received a video from Physicians Committee staff scientists Mei-Chun Lai, Ph.D., and Sarah Cavanaugh, Ph.D., who went to Taiwan to continue to pressure the government to stop rabies experiments on beagles and other animals. Just a few days ago, the Physicians Committee held a press conference and a public hearing in Taiwan, both of which generated significant attention on the part of decision makers and the press. We are optimistic that we can see this campaign to a successful conclusion and stop the planned experiments before they begin. **[View the brief video update »](http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fsupport.pcrm.org%2Fsite%2FR%3Fi%3D3PoBYV1MLOtLm2UFdMJ5qw&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNF79HSpdZCnn%5FmqqtZjLTsKrFcw2Q&ref=foodconsumer.org)**

Celebrity support is also helping to bring attention to this campaign. Emmy-winning talk show host and Physicians Committee member Ellen Degeneres recently lent her support to help save the beagles by writing a letter to Taiwanese officials. [Ellen's letter](http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fsupport.pcrm.org%2Fsite%2FR%3Fi%3DVROEuaZz3I2TmjQ-ukOaLA&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNGwyQ7zJDBlcm3VaMu2EhJYVRXmqg&ref=foodconsumer.org) has received significant coverage in the media, including *E! Online*,*The Huffington Post*, as well as many Chinese-language outlets, such as the *China Times*.

Your calls, letters, petitions, and e-mails are working—thank you!

Please look for details soon on the upcoming call.
