“It's an amazing journey to look back five years ago when we first started filming in Aspen with our partners Chip Comins and Sally Ranney (co-founders of AREDAY),” said filmmaker Greg Reitman. “It only makes sense to begin our festival release in Aspen, and launch our One Tree Movement here, as well.

"Today we are at war within ourselves, with our environment, and with the world," said Reitman, "and it’s up to each of us to make peace with ourselves and our planet." The filmmaker takes us on a cinematic journey to take notice, stop the cycle of violence, and seek ways to find personal and ecological peace. *ROOTED in PEACE* challenges viewers to examine their values as Americans, and as human beings.

Employing both memoir and interviews with such luminaries and activists as Deepak Chopra, music legends Donovan, Mike Love, and Pete Seeger, film director David Lynch, Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire, media mogul Ted Turner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, green architect William McDonough, neuroscientist Dan Siegel and many others, Reitman heeds guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s words: “If the forest is to be green, every tree must be green, if there’s going to be Peace on earth then everybody must need to feel that quality of Peace.” Reitman poses the basic question: How do we want to live? And asks viewers to do the same.

The film will continue to play on the festival circuit followed by a theatrical release in early November. **About One Tree Movement**

ONE TREE mission is to inspire, engage and support people to take personal responsibility for the natural environment, making it safe, healthy, fun and sustainable, and to share the process as a model for the world. Conservation and preservation are the keys to bringing the earth back into balance. Our first effort began in 1991 at The University of Massachusetts at Amherst. It focused on educating and inspiring people to plant and care for trees, and to send a message to the world of peace to the Middle East and in our own backyard, here in the USA. Why? Because more trees means less carbon dioxide, cooler temperatures, cleaner air, replenished groundwater supplies and a safer, more beautiful environment. Preserving the rainforest and expanding the fruit tree program throughout the United States provides a foundational step of creating the next generation of environmental stewards throughout the world. But the worsening impacts of global warming, the looming threat of water shortages, and the decline of rainforest preservation tell us we need to act now.
