Got a heart attack? You would be better off eating a high fiber diet immediately. A new study suggests that higher post-heart attack fiber intake was associated with 25% reduced risk of death. Greater intake of cereal fiber was associated with 27% reduced risk of all cause death, compared with intake of other sources of fiber. High fiber intake before and after heart attack was associated with 31% reduced risk of death. The data for the study came from 2258 women and 1840 men enrolled in the Nurses’ Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study.
