Dear Reader,

Summer's fresh vegetables and fruit are bountiful in the produce department at your local grocery store…what better time to take a pass on canned food?

[Join the Breast Cancer Fund and me in kicking the can this July](http://prevention.breastcancerfund.org/site/R?i=mzA9JZhWGfpAMS2u-ou7pQ..&ref=foodconsumer.org)! Together we're sending a message to canned food manufacturers that we want safe, BPA-free canned food.

What do we mean by "kicking the can"? That means signing our [pledge to avoid canned foods](http://prevention.breastcancerfund.org/site/R?i=0hiA8gdsK5Xmu25lQnmvuQ..&ref=foodconsumer.org) now through July 31\. Choose fresh, frozen or dried, but keep that can opener out of sight.

Most canned food companies continue to use BPA, an estrogenic chemical linked to breast cancer, to line their metal cans. Research shows that BPA migrates from the can lining into our food and then into our bodies. The result: 93 percent of Americans have BPA in them.

We're kicking the can to say BPA doesn't belong in our food or our bodies—and we want you to [join us](http://prevention.breastcancerfund.org/site/R?i=NbTzHtpxuRWP2VMyOut8tg..&ref=foodconsumer.org)! Take the personal pledge and we'll share with you BPA facts and tips for kicking the can.

Kicking the can isn't just about what you put in your shopping cart this month. We also want canned food companies to hear loud and clear that an estrogenic chemical doesn't belong in food in the first place.

That's why we'll be delivering pledge signatures to the top canned food manufacturers to show them that thousands of us want BPA off our dinner plates. It's part of the Breast Cancer Fund's continued escalation to get BPA out of food and out of people.

Join the movement for toxic-free food: [take the pledge to kick the can this July](http://prevention.breastcancerfund.org/site/R?i=Xh58W83PykS01f5d5udG9A..&ref=foodconsumer.org)!
