### Olde Thompson Inc. Issues a Voluntary Recall of Kirkland Signature Coarse Ground Malabar Pepper 12.7 oz Plastic Jars Due to Possible*Salmonella* Risk

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE** \- June 6, 2014 - Olde Thompson Inc. Oxnard, CA is recalling to the consumer level Kirkland Signature Coarse Ground Malabar Pepper 12.7 OZ Plastic Jars with a **Best Before date of 03/2017 and Lot #: OT 065099, OT 065169, OT 065254, OT 065255, OT 065256, and OT 065284**, due to possible contamination by *Salmonella*. This recall is being undertaken with the knowledge of the FDA.

*Salmonella* is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with *Salmonella* often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with *Salmonella* can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses.

The recalled product is identified and distributed as follows:

**Sold exclusively at Costco Wholesale Club nationwide between April 4, 2014 and June 4, 2014**

The recall affects 5,153 cases of recalling Kirkland Signature Coarse Ground Malabar Pepper 12.7 OZ Plastic Jars with a **Best Before date of 03/2017 and Lot #: OT 065099, OT 065169, OT 065254, OT 065255, OT 065256, and OT 065284** located below the back label.

The bacterium was discovered during routine FDA sampling of consumer products.
