- Description: A pooled case-control analysis by Lennart Hardell and Michael Carlberg found mobile phone use over a latency of more than 25 years associated with a 200% higher glioma risk, a weaker association for cordless phones, and greater risk among users who started before age 20.

Tuesday Nov 24, 2015 (foodconsumer.org) -- A new case-control study led by Lennart Hardell and Michael Carlberg suggests use of mobile phones (cell phone) and cordless phones used at home can increase risk of brain cancer glioma.

The researchers found that in the long latency group (>25 years), mobile phone use was associated with 200% increased risk for the brain cancer. Cordless phone use was also associated with the brain cancer, but not as damaging as mobile phones.

The harm from mobile phones and cordless phones can be much greater in those who started using mobile phones and cordless phones before they reached 20 years old.

According to the study report, the International Agency for Cancer Research (an organization of WHO) has already classified as Group B2 carcinogens all sources using radiaowave between 30 kHz and 300,000 MHz which covers the radiofrequency electromagnetic fields emitted from mobile phones and cordless phones. Group B2 covers probable human carcinogens.
