A new study in Journal of Attention Disorders suggests that taking omega-3 fatty acids may help children with ADHD to improve their behavior, literacy and attention. C. M. Milte and colleagues conducted the study and found supplementation with omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids including docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) was associated with "improved spelling and attention and reduced oppositional behavior, hyperactivity, cognitive problems, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th ed.; DSM-IV) hyperactivity and DSM-IV inattention" in children with ADHD.
