Dear Readers,

I have an urgent update on our fight against Dow Chemical Co.’s quest to have the Environmental Protection Agency approve the use of Dow’s new herbicide Enlist Duo, a toxic mix of 2,4-D and glyphosate, on millions of acres of genetically engineered crops.

In response to the more than 500,000 people – including you – who told the EPA to reject Dow’s application to market the toxic weed killer, Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore) and Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) are asking their colleagues in Congress to sign on to a letter urging the EPA and USDA to say no to Dow.

**We need your voice again today in order to put a stop to this once and for all.**

Will you ask your representative to join Reps. DeFazio and Pingree and sign their letter today? We only have until this Friday, July 25, to get as many Congressional signers as we possibly can.

[**Click here to urge your representative to stand up against this new toxic herbicide mix and tell the agencies to deny Dow’s application.**](http://action.ewg.org/salsa/track.jsp?v=2&c=EGTEky7Hfts2Yyi4tcIHLxTi12sKU2Ik&ref=foodconsumer.org)

When EWG’s analysts dug into the potential dangers of this toxic herbicide, one of the most alarming facts they found is **the shocking number of schools that are close to soy and corn fields where Enlist Duo could be sprayed – more than 5,600 schools, to be exact. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want my child anywhere near this stuff.**

**Researchers have linked exposure to 2,4-D to a higher risk of developing thyroid, immune system and reproductive problems, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Parkinson’s disease.** Widespread use would affect dozens of endangered species and potentially worsen the decline of honeybees and other essential insects. We must do whatever we can to put a stop to this toxic weed killer.

Over half a million people like you spoke out against Dow’s application during the EPA’s public comment period. Now that the period is closed, the best way to turn up the heat on the EPA is to get your member of Congress to voice your concerns to the agency. **Please, tell your representative to sign the letter TODAY.**

Thank you for taking action again on such an important issue.

Sincerely,

Ken Cook
President, Environmental Working Group
