According to [MedlinePlus](http://medlineplus.gov/?ref=foodconsumer.org), several common factors can affect men's health. Men tend to smoke and drink more than women and do not seek medical help as often.

There are also health conditions that only affect men, such as [prostate cancer](http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/prostatecancer.html?ref=foodconsumer.org) and [low testosterone](http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/tutorials/lowtestosterone/htm/index.htm?ref=foodconsumer.org). Many of the major health risks that men face, such as [colon cancer](http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/colorectalcancer.html?ref=foodconsumer.org) or [heart disease](http://answers.usa.gov/cgi-bin/gsa%5Fict.cfg/php/enduser/std%5Fadp.php?p%5Ffaqid=8027&p%5Fsid=NZd4Qn1k&p%5Flva=8611&ref=foodconsumer.org), can be prevented and treated with early diagnosis. Screening tests can find diseases early, when they are easier to treat. It is important to have regular checkups and screenings.

There are a number of federal agencies that offer information about men's health topics. For more information, please visit the following resources:
