This year the World Beer Festival can boast being one of the first events in the state to be officially sanctioned by the prestigious North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild. The North Carolina Brewers Guild is a not-for-profit 501(c)6 tax-exempt trade organization comprised of brewers, vendors and craft beer enthusiasts focused on promoting North Carolina beer. “We are very excited to partner with the World Beer Festival,” said Margo Knight Metzger, Executive Director of the North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild. “The event has consistently provided a standard for expanding the public’s appreciation of craft beer, particularly our own in-state breweries.” The World Beer Festival—Durham, now in its nineteenth year, brings together the brewers and their beer with a growing customer base that has shaped the North Carolina beer scene. As the longest standing beer festival in NC, the World Beer Festival has significantly advanced the Triangle beer culture, expanding retail offerings and raising consumer appreciation. The North Carolina Craft Brewers Guild recognizes this, along with the festival’s strong focus on education and moderation, to be a valuable asset in promoting the mission of the guild, and as such they will be encouraging participation of all member breweries. The World Beer Festival—Durham is the largest NC festival to receive an endorsement. “We are honored to be one of the first beer events to receive this official recognition of our work in the NC beer community,” said Adam Harold, Director of Beer Programs for the World Beer Festival. General admission tickets are $55 and include a tasting glass and unlimited 2oz tastings from over 250 craft and specialty beers. VIP admission tickets are available for $70 and offer the same in addition to access to a private air-conditioned hospitality area including private bathrooms, a bonus selection of rare beers, a 2014 festival commemorative gift, and a 3-issue subscription to All About Beer Magazine.
