A new study suggests that quercetin supplementation may help type 2 diabetes mellitus. The study was intended to test how quercetin may affect the muscle triacylglycerol, serum glucose, insulin, fructosamine and free fatty acids in animals. For the study, animals were fed a high-fat high-sugar diet either supplemented with quercetin in a dose of 30 mg/kg body weight/day, or without quercetin supplemented for six weeks. Quercetin supplementation significantly reduce fructosamine, basal glucose and insulin, and insulin resistance. (DL) N. Arias, M. T. Macarulla, L. Aguirre, M. G. Martínez-Castaño, M. P.
