The federal bill to ban state GMO labeling laws left the House Agriculture Committee and is on its way to a vote in the full House.
If passed and signed into law, Vermont would be banned from labeling GMOs, as would Maine, Connecticut and every other state in the country. Rest assured that the FDA would never require GMO labeling on a federal level if this ban is passed.
This bill is supported by Monsanto and Big Food corporations such as Hormel, General Mills, Land O'Lakes, and Cargill.
Roundup Ready GMO crops have caused usage of glyphosate, which was declared a 'probable carcinogen' by the World Health Organization, to skyrocket in recent years. Farmers now use over 280 million pounds of it per year, while acceptable levels of glyphosate residue in our food supply are raised accordingly.
