We mistakenly sent some draft language in our previous email that led to confusion over the filing of our lawsuit. It has been corrected in this version. We apologize for the error!

Summer is almost over, but our battles against GMOs and to keep our food supply safe, continue.

As you know, Center for Food Safety’s legal team is preparing to file a federal lawsuit to declare the new federal GMO labeling bill unconstitutional on multiple grounds. As we have many times before, we’ll face off against a bunch of corporate attorneys hired by the giant agriculture companies to block your right to know about the ingredients in your food.

While Monsanto’s lobbyists and lawyers rack up billable hours to defend and define the new GMO labeling law--a law that discriminates against more than 100 million Americans, disproportionately affecting low-income people and seniors--we’ll be busy countering them.

Over the past year, grassroots supporters like you have helped us achieve so much. Here are just a few of CFS’s recent victories:

  • Stopped the commercialization of new genetically engineered crops designed to withstand greater amounts of toxic pesticides such as those containing 2,4-D, one of the main ingredients in “Agent Orange.”
  • Successfully defended a law banning the planting of GE crops in Jackson County, Oregon, protecting farmers and the public from the economic and health hazards of GE crops and the pesticides used with them.
  • Passed a law in California restricting the use of antibiotics in livestock, and pressured companies such as Subway to phase out chicken produced using routine antibiotics.

We know how to win the tough fights. Help us continue our momentum by chipping in now.

David, I’m reaching out to you because none of these victories were easy. And not all the struggles have ended this well.

We still have ongoing battles across the nation. CFS is also in court battling the Food and Drug Administration over the approval of the first-ever GE fish. And with the EPA currently allowing the sale of pesticide seed coatings that imperil pollinators, CFS's advocacy and policy teams are working hard to push food companies to drop these bee-toxic pesticides from their supply chains, and to pass state and local bans on these pesticides.

In times like this, when we're outnumbered by Big Ag's legion of lobbyists and lawyers, we count on your support.

Monsanto has 24 registered lobbyists in D.C. alone. Can you chip in $24 right now to help CFS's grassroots team fight back?

There has never been a more critical time to advocate for food safety and every day we are growing our grassroots movement delivering this message from the halls of Congress, to state capitals, city councils, and corporate CEOs. Again, thank you for being a part of our movement. We're glad you're with us.
