BREAKING NEWS: The House Agriculture Committee just endorsed the DARK Act.

Now that the House Agriculture Committee has officially approved what we’ve dubbed the Deny Americans the Right to Know – or DARK Act – it could be coming up for a vote in the full House ANY DAY NOW.
Not only would this reprehensible, anti-consumer bill block states from adopting their own GMO labeling laws, the DARK Act would make it virtually impossible for the Food and Drug Administration to EVER require mandatory labeling nationwide.
It would also codify the current broken voluntary labeling system, block states, counties and municipalities from regulating GMO crop production to protect human health and the environment, and allow GMOs in so-called “natural” foods.
Time is running out to make your voice heard: We simply cannot let Monsanto, Big Food and other special interests get away with this blatant disregard for the wishes of the American people.
GMO crops have fueled an explosion in the use of glyphosate, a toxic weed killer recently deemed by leading global cancer experts to be a probable human carcinogen. As a result of the widespread adoption of GMO crops over the last two decades, American farmers used 280 million pounds of this probable carcinogen in 2012 – up from 16 million pounds in 1992!
Americans have the right to know what’s in their food and how it was grown – just like the citizens of 64 other nations that already require GMO labeling. It’s time for lawmakers to recognize that right and stand for GMO labeling.
