A diet low in fermentable saccharides (oligo-, di- and mono-) and polyols (FODMAPs) lowered gastrointestinal symptoms in patients with irritable bowel symptoms, according to a new study. The diet also reduced bloating, abdominal pain, passage of wind in IBS patients. All IBS subtypes were more staisified with stool consistency while on the diet, except that IBS-d had altered fecal frequency and King'sStool Chart scores. (David Liu)Emma P. Halmosemail, et al.
