A review article suggests that consumption of red meat, dietary fat, and milk may increase risk of prostate cancer while eating fruit and vegetables and polyphenols may prevent the disease. The review also suggests that selenium and vitamin supplements may not be advocated for the prevention of prostate cancer and high doses may even worsen the prognosis of the disease. Also it remains unknown whether probiotics or prebiotics may help prevent prostate cancer. (David Liu PHD)Mandair D, Rossi RE, Pericleous M, Whyand T, Caplin ME.
