Eating organic foods lowers pesticide exposure
Exposure to organophosphate pesticides has been associated with some health conditions including lower IQ and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). A new study suggests that eating organic foods instead of conventional foods can lower the exposure to organophosphate pesticides.
The study based on data from the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis showed that urinary dialkylphosphate (DAP) levels were found significantly lower in groups reporting more frequent consumption of organic produce.
