Al-Sukhni W, Grunbaum A, Fleshner N. Remission of hormone-refractory prostate cancer attributed to Essiac. Can J Urol. 2005 Oct;12(5):2841-2.A case reported in Canadian Journal of Urology suggests that essiac tea may be used to treat prostate cancer. According to the report, "a 64-year-old man whose hormone-refractory prostate cancer responded well to Essiac tea." Essiac tea is an herbal tea originally used by a Canadian nurse named Rene Caisse. The nurse used the tea to treat hundreds of patients with cancer per week for many years and evidence suggests that many patients got improved or cured with the treatment. Some research studies show no anticancer efficacy of essiac tea while others demonstrated the therapeutic potential. Many patients today still use essiac tea to treat their cancer.
