Thursday March 22, 2013 (foodconsumer.org) Fluoride, which is intentionally added to the drinking water in the U.S., has been known to cause damage to the neuro cells and lower IQ in children and increase the risk of a type of rare bone disease in boys, according to a Harvard University study. Excessive exposure to fluoride has also been found to cause dental fluorosis and skeletal fluorosis.

RupalA Vasant conducted his doctoral study at Sardar Patel University in India and found evidence suggesting that fluoride can also cause type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

The author first demonstrated that rats exposed to fluoride in a dose of 100 ppm sodium fluoride in drinking water for a four week period developed hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia and oxidative stress.

This means that exposure to fluoride may cause diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease.  The study also shows that exposure to fluoride led to loss of enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants, which means that fluoride may lead to oxidation and inflammation.

Fluoride is commonly added to public drinking water systems and more than 75% of U.S. residents drink fluoridated water and many of them are at risk of excess exposure to this toxic chemical.

There is no medical treatment available to treat diseases caused by fluoride.  The only way to eliminate the toxicity to to remove fluoride from drinking water, which can only be done with a reverse osmosis tap water filter and some nanomaterial based tap water filters.

The author tested certain plants which have already been used in folk lore medicine in India to treat a variety of diseases and found some helpful in reducing the toxicity of fluoride.
