A new study suggests that eating a high fat diet can not only cause obesity, glucose intolerance and insulin resistance, but also cause brain damage ultimately leading to the development of Parkinson's disease. The study shows that upon aging, a high-fat diet, significantly accelerated the development of neurological symptoms in mice that were genetically prone to development of Parkinson’s disease. This indicates that a high fat diet can cause brain damage which can lead to the development of Parkinson's disease in older people. (David Liu, PHD)Carola Rotermund, Felicia M.
