Media Registration open for APEC HR Development Ministerial Meeting

Ha Noi, Viet Nam, 6 August 2014 - Media registration is open for the APEC Human Resource Development Ministerial Meeting, to be hosted in Ha Noi by Viet Nam and chaired by Minister Bui Quang Vinh of Viet Nam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment.

Background:

APEC economies’ nearly three billion people account for around 40 per cent of the world’s population and are the foundation of the region’s economic development. But productivity is falling short of its potential and labor costs are in flux which affect hiring, wages and growth.   

Ministers will take actions to improve the human resources landscape across the Asia-Pacific. Focus areas include strengthening youth employability; facilitating labor mobility and skills development; and boosting pension reform, the role of women in the workforce and policy support for disabled, migrant and unskilled workers, and the long-term unemployed.
