It has been known that taking omega 3 fatty acids may help reverse steatosis induced by high fat diet.   A new study suggests that this protection works in both the fatty liver and lean liver.

The study tested omega 3 fatty acids in tumor laden mice to see how the supplement benefits the liver and affect the survival of tumor laden mice.

The study showed omega 3 fatty acids reversed high fat diet induced steatosis, significantly protected against ischemia reperfusion, improved liver regeneration, and prolonged the survival of tumor laden mice.

These benefits were also observed in mice with lean liver.  Mice with metastatic cancer lived longer if their diet was supplemented with omega 3 fatty acids. (David Liu)
