A new review published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine finds evidence suggesting that oral Panax notoginseng preparation does not prevent cardiovascular events, but may alleviate angina pectoris, improve electrocardiogram , decrease recurrence of angina pectoris and duration of angina pectoris, and dosage of nitroglycerin.  The review included 17 randomized clinical trials of 1747 participants. Panax notoginseng is a species of the genus Panax, and it grows naturally in China and Japan.  This herb is called tienchi ginseng in Chinese.  This herb has been found to help shorten the duration of external bleeding by 52% and speed  up cardiovascular recovery and protect against cancer.
