The Associated Press reported one trick today that the manufacturers of printer cartridges may not want you to know - different fonts use different amounts of ink, which mean different costs.

Printer.com was said to have tested all fonts and found Century Gothic and Times New Roman are most economical followed by Calibri, Verdana, Arial and Sans Serif.  Century Gothic uses 30 percent less ink than Arial.

It makes sense that a font with light or narrow in its name uses less ink than those with bold or black in their names.

An average user may save $20 a year and a school may use $5000 to 10000 a year if they choose the right font to print.
