Any moment now President Obama could sign the DARK Act into law—or he could choose to listen to the vast majority of the American public and veto the DARK Act.

We’re pushing one last time to urge President Obama to veto this fake GMO labeling bill and send it back to Congress to fix the bill’s many problems.

That’s why today we’re running a full-page open letter to President Obama in the Philadelphia Inquirer—to coincide with the Democratic National Convention—where President Obama and other Democratic influencers will see it.

The DARK Act passed through Congress last week and allows companies and producers to use QR codes, 1-800 numbers and other difficult to access technology to label food products that contain GMOs, instead of clear, on-package text. The law discriminates against more than 100 million Americans and sets a dangerous precedent to override the sovereignty of states, as many state labeling laws, including Vermont’s recently enacted GMO labeling law, are now immediately void.

Join us in urging President Obama to veto this bill by signing the petition on WhiteHouse.Gov >>

This law is a sham and a shame – it is the result of an ill-conceived, backroom deal of a bill that discriminates against low-income, rural, minority and elderly populations. Congress had the opportunity to create a food labeling system that would help all Americans make informed choices and they sided with Big Food instead.

We still have one more chance to stop the DARK Act – sign the White House petition urging President Obama to veto this sham labeling bill - We need less than 1,000 more signatures to force a response from the White House!

Thanks for everything you do,
The Center for Food Safety team
