Young Communications, for 20 years, where she helped create, launch and manage The James Beard Foundation Awards, New York Restaurant Week, and numerous charitable and culinary programs. During her career, she has worked with international wine regions and businesses and served as president of Les Dames d'Escoffier New York (LDNY), an organization of leading women in food, fine beverage and hospitality. Ransom helped run his family's New York State winery, Rivendell, and produced wine and food events for Young's agency. He writes about wine, spirits and beer for The Tasting Panel magazine, The SOMM Journal and other beverage and lifestyle publications. He has been a guest host on KFNX's Bottoms Up! Radio Hour and KLAV's RSVP Radio Show, both with Jennifer English. He is a member of the Wine Media Guild and conducts private wine classes.
Together Young and Ransom manage a culinary events and marketing consulting company also called The Connected Table, which is separate from the radio show. The two met in 1990 at a wine and food festival in New York and then lost touch for more than a decade. They reconnected in 2003 at a friend's dinner party and became a couple soon after. In 2006, Ransom surprised Young with an on-stage marriage proposal at The James Beard Foundation Awards (see video).
